Education in UK and Qatar

There are three different authorities of education in Qatar, the supreme education council, ministry of education and the Qatar foundation for education. There are a large number of public and private schools in Qatar. The public schools are Arabic schools with no fees and the private schools are British or American schools with fees. Most of the students that are in public schools learn English as their second language and French or Spanish as their third language. In other hands, in Arabic schools they only learn English without any third language. Mostly, in Arabic schools the grades are submitted as a percentage at the end of the year. It’s the same as the American system, but, in the British system in Qatar you need to finish your IGCSE’s with 5 subjects grade C and above and 2 AS Level over the grade C. Sometimes A level and IB (international baccalaureate) is required in some universities. There are three levels of education system. The first level starts from year 1 until year 6 and we call this Primary stage. The second level of education starts after the primary stage from year 7 until year 9, it is called preparatory stage. Lastly, the third level is from year 10 until 12 and it’s called the secondary stage.

The education in the UK is likely the same as the education in Qatar (the British system only). Many different governments direct it. The UK government is responsible for the education in England. The Scottish government, Welsh government and the Northern Ireland government is responsible for the education in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The system of education is divided into four parts. The nursery stage from ages 3-4, the primary education stage from ages 4-11, the secondary education stage from ages 11-18 and the tertiary education stage from ages 18 and above. In high school GCSE’s, AS Level, and A Level or IB (international Baccalaureate) are required, without these certificates you won’t be able to enter university. The main subjects that they teach in schools are English, mathematics and science. In addition, the UK also has public and private schools. Mostly, the private schools are for rich people and people from a high class.
